In the Holy Week and Easter narratives, gardens are emotionally-charged sites where divine drama unfolds. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus’ cries of grief and lament filled the night air. At dawn in the garden where the women discovered an empty tomb, fear and confusion gave way to comfort and joy. Gardens continue to be liminal spaces, holy ground where we can pour out our feelings and draw near to God.
At this spring retreat on the last Saturday of Lent, you are invited to “Come to the Garden” with Rev. Tambi Brown Swiney to explore spiritual practices that can deepen your experience of the Divine and strengthen you for the living of these days. The retreat will be held in First Baptist Church of Asheville’s Chapel and Sacred Garden.
