I created Overlook Ahead on Substack an extension of my work as a spiritual director. My favorite road in the world is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which winds its way through the mountains of Western North Carolina near my home. Every time I take a leisurely drive on this picturesque parkway, I can’t resist stopping at one or more of the overlooks. At each overlook, a traveler has the chance to stop and ponder the panoramic view from a different perspective. At each overlook, a traveler can examine details of the landscape they might have otherwise overlooked. I hope my writing helps readers view their lives from a fresh perceptive. I also hope my writing encourages readers to explore spiritual practices that can enable them to pay attention to life-giving things they might otherwise overlook.
